About Shaykh Saed Ali Kulayni

Shaykh Saed Ali Kulayni was born and raised in New York City. He converted to Shia Islam during his teenage years. He studied at the Hawzah I.M.A.M. Institute for five years in which he completed the first stage (muqadmat) for his higher education. He also studied in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq.

Shaykh Saed Ali Kulayni has worked at multiple Islamic Centers in the Atlanta area. Teaching beliefs, morals, and Islamic law at the local hawzah. His duties there included leading the Friday prayer and lecturing throughout Louisiana, Florida, Washington, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, California, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Colorado, Oregon, Arizona, and Canada.

Shaykh Saed Ali Kulayni also served as the resident alim of a local center in Tampa, Florida, where he was the Islamic school principal and held Thursday and Friday prayer services.

Now, Shaykh Saed Ali Kulayni is the resident Alim of al Zahra Islamic Center in Charlotte, N.C. where he caters to all the spiritual and religious needs pertaining to the community.

Shaykh Saed Ali Kulayni has written multiple articles on Islam. His articles cover topics such as ijtehad, “The Important Day”, “Why do Shia pray on Clay Tablets”, “To Enjoin What is Right and Forbid What is Wrong”, “Why We Combine Prayers”, and others. He also has three published books called Islamic Inquiries: 100 Questions asked by Prisoners in the U.S., and another under the same title including 500 questions. Shaykh Saed is also a member of 2ndchance books which sends Shia books and literature to the prisons in America.
